Consultation Visit
After analyzing your diagnostic records. Dr. Bernardich will schedule a consultation visit to discuss your orthodontic needs in greater detail, probable duration of treatment, treatment options, cost of treatment and expected results.

Your Visits
Keeping your appointment and being on time are very important to successful treatment. When appointments must be rescheduled, the length of treatment is extended, removal of braces is delayed then your program of care may not be completed as planned. If you are unable to keep a scheduled visit, please call the office at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule.

Being on time for visits is also very important. We try our best to make sure your wait is kept to a minimum. If you are late, it may require rescheduling your appointment.

Dental Care
During your orthodontist treatment it is necessary to visit your family dentist regularly – at least every 6 months. Our treatment will not affect your normal care.

Maintaining Your Appliances
Daily attention to your braces and other orthodontic appliances is important. Remember to brush regularly and limit sugar in your diet. Avoid eating hard or sticky foods. When indicated, elastic or headgear wear will be prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions for proper use.

If problems develop with your braces, please contact the office immediately. Repairs are not made during regularly scheduled visits. If repairs are needed, a special time will be set aside.

Fees, Payments & Insurance Coverage
Fees depend on the individual treatment plan. Patients with insurance coverage, for orthodontia, should provide us with the appropriate information. We will then process your insurance claims with the payments coming to our office.
Financial arrangements will be made for any patient not covered by insurance. We will be happy to discuss and design comfortable financial arrangements with you.

Protruded Upper Teeth
This 8-year old has already fractured his protruded front teeth. Interceptive treatment can reatract the front teeth and balance the size and shape of the jaws.

Interceptive Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics

Deep Bite
Early treatment of a deep bite can establish a more favorable facial height and prevent biting into the upper gums and excessive wear of front teeth.
Cross Bite
Orthopedic forces can often be used to correct a cross bite, establish proper function of the teeth, improve facial profile, and prevent the need for future surgery.
Open Bite
Harmful habits such as tongue thrust and thumb sucking are best corrected early to prevent open bite and misshaped jaws.
Crowding
Timely treatment of crowding may involve preserving or regaining space, and guiding the eruption of permanent teeth into favorable positions.

Excessive Spacing
Excessive spaces between teeth that persist after the top permanent canine teeth appear.
